I am honored that you chose us to help with your child’s sleep journey! I am a mother of two and I came into motherhood knowing very little about sleep. I’m sure many first time moms can relate. But my story is quite unique, I had a complicated pregnancy and a traumatic after birth experience causing me a lot of stress. My first daughter was born at 31 weeks premature and was in the NICU for 3 months due to complications with her kidneys and lungs. After multiple procedures in utero and surgeries she came home at 3 months old. Once we were home, my husband and I felt lost and overwhelmed. After months of being in a hospital setting, we all had a hard time adjusting but we eventually found our rhythm. Then like most babies, the frequent night wakings and feedings started. We were exhausted, sleep deprived and stressed. We researched about sleep, read books and asked for advice from others, in the end we were confused and felt hopeless.
With all that happened, I was suffering from PTSD and because of the rough start my little one had, I was very nervous and hesitant about implementing change. By the time my daughter was 9 months old, I was desperate and exhausted, I turned to my sister and she introduced me to sleep optimization. She helped us with our sleep journey and to reach our healthy sleep goals. We finally felt rested and happy! The most precious part was the strong bond that developed and was missing with my daughter. I developed this overwhelming need to share my experience with everyone. My passion for sleep and to help other families became my primary objective. As a result, I decided to become a pediatric sleep consultant and I received my certification from The Maternity and Parenting Institute. Every cloud has a silver lining and mine was, I have empathy and the experience to connect with families who are in similar turbulent situations. The worries and the emotional whirlwind that comes with having a preemie child in the NICU are monumental, but I can help you reach your sleep goals even when in your darkest hour it seems hopeless. As your sleep coach I will respect your family’s dynamics and views on sleep. My job is to make sure you are guided in helping your little ones sleep in a healthy and safe environment.
